Starting in Fall 2016, the Steen Library at Stephen F. Austin State University began development of a Virtual Reality based Makerspace. This space will allow faculty, students, and staff to explore new technologies to help with student learning and faculty research.

Edward Iglesisas, Kreg Mosier, and Michael Gillen of the library’s Emerging Technologies Department will be leading the effort, initially with a focus on immersive virtual reality and 3D printing. Future developments may focus on electronics, Augmented Reality (AR) or any other technologies that may fit with the needs of SFA students.
